Well, this has been a whirlwind of uncertainty for all of us. We are trying our hardest to keep one thing consistent, your YOGA practice! Yoga is a respite, a chance to draw ones attention inward, and an opportunity to remain calm through moments of adversity — things that are desperately needed right now as we navigate the current situation.
The online platform was also created to enable our teachers and our studio to survive the financial challenges. Your participation and continuation with us means everything to our survival as a small business. We can’t say “Thank You” enough to express our appreciation for your continued support and patience with us as we continue to perfect the online experience. Our live virtual classes are fun and are more like a real class than you might expect. If there is anything we are learning from this new phase of life, it is just how connected we really all are. Our virtual practice sessions will keep you attuned to this reality — we’ll be together, connecting, and keeping up our practice with one another by our virtual sides. HOW TO ACCESS ONLINE CLASSES:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Please know that we are working out all the kinks as quickly as we can. Your patience with us is much appreciated as we work toward making this experience seamless. CLASS FEES How do i pay for my online classes?
You can use your class passes or memberships to virtually attend class. Payment for live, online classes will be taken as if classes were held in-studio. For Members and Class Pack holders, these classes will be covered with your pricing option.
What should I do if I have a membership?
As a Kaya Yoga member, we appreciate deeply your support at this time. If at all possible, please consider keeping your passes and memberships active to help our small, locally owned business through this difficult time. You can use your membership to attend our virtual classes while our physical doors are closed. If you wish to put your membership on hold during this time, email us here.
ZOOM PREPARATION AND TROUBLESHOOTING ARE ONLINE CLASSES RECORDED?
A recording of the class will now be sent (to everyone who has registered) within 1 hour after the class has finished and you will have access to the recording until midnight of the following day. *The Wednesday Community class at noon will not be recorded.
CAN I TEST MY ZOOM SET UP BEFORE TAKING A CLASS?
After you sign up for your zoom account, you can join a test meeting by clicking here to make sure your audio and video is working. Feel confident you are ready to join your first virtual class. We can’t provide a lot of technical assistance during classes (or five minutes before your class begins!), so testing your set up before your first class is highly advised.
WILL I BE SEEN IN MY HOUSE AS I AM PRACTICING?
No one can see you during the zoom class as long as you keep your video on OFF. In fact, we need you to keep your video OFF during the length of the class to improve the streaming quality. If after the class is finished and you want to say hi to the teacher or ask a question, turn your video on so we can see you and we will unmute you. You will not be able to unmute yourself.
CAN I CHANGE THE VIEW SO I AM ONLY SEEING THE TEACHER?
“Speaker” view allows you to follow the teacher, while “Gallery” view will show other students in the class. Since a lot of us know each other, it can be nice to connect this way. If you look at the top right corner of your screen you will see the Speaker or Gallery options.
CAN I ASK QUESTIONS DURING THE PRACTICE?
When you enter the virtual classroom, your microphone will be muted. This reduces audio feedback for all attendees. You can ask questions after the class
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY INTERNET CONNECTION ISN’T WORKING WELL?
If your internet connection slows down during class, make sure to turn your video OFF. This helps decrease the load on your wifi connection.
WHAT IS THE BEST BROWSER TO USE FOR VIRTUAL CLASSES?
Zoom works best when using the Chrome web browser if you are using your laptop.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CLASS FEED SUDDENLY STOPS?
It’s rare that this happens, but if it does, stay in the virtual classroom and the feed should resume within a few minutes. We’re really working hard to get all the little glitches out of the system, be patient with us. Zoom is also overwhelmed with all of the users right now so sometimes it is out of our control.
CAN YOU HELP ME WITH TECHNICAL ISSUES?
We will attempt to provide minimal technical assistance. We encourage you to play with your free Zoom account so that you get used to the format. We won’t be able to stop class to help you if you are having trouble. If you have technical issues, you can chat and write questions within the Zoom platform. If you have had a difficult experience with your virtual class, please email us to let us know so we can remedy your account.
HELPFUL TIP Don't have props at home? Kia has made a video to help you find props at home that will work just as well as the studio props. Video coming soon! |
