Tantra Yoga |
This yoga class blends the philosophy and practices of the Non-Dual Shaiva Tantra tradition with the more familiar Vinyasa style of flowing from one pose to the next using the breath as the linking and centering force. Kia will incorporate one or more of the following Tantrik practices:
Mantra- repetition of sounds/chanting Pranayama - playing with the movement of our breath in particular patterns Mudra - held hand gestures in a particular pose Visualization/Imagination - to help the student remain present and fully aware of the moment. Kia will also weave in the philosophy of her Tantrik tradition during the class in an attempt to help the student better understand why we practice yoga and what the "real" goal is....... to fully experience and embrace every moment just as it is, through and in our bodies. SOMATIC MOVEMENT
|
The word somatic means “of or relating to the living body,” This class leads the student through various movements (including some asanas) performed consciously with the intention of focusing on the internal experience of the movement rather than the external appearance or result of the movement. The student will learn how to find and move from their center of gravity.

The 30 minutes will be divided between Pranayama (breathing exercise) and then a 12-15 minute meditation, while sometimes holding a particular mudra (hand gesture). There will be a few minutes at the end for questions and comments. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY.

YOGA NIDRA
|
Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation”. It’s practiced lying down with Kia guiding the session. The practice draws your attention inwards, and you learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep, where your body finds its natural state of equilibrium (homeostasis) – the breath balances and becomes quiet, and unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves as you fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness.
